There are 10 stations en route. On the section from Nice to Colamars-la-Manda the railway line is characterized by frequent departures and many commuters using it as a suburban line.

History:

On 14 August 1891 the first section of the railway was opened with traffic on the strech from Digne to Mézel. The next year traffic was begun in the distance from Nice to Puget-Théniers. The complete railway line from Nice to Nigne was inaugurated on 3. July 1911.

Today:

The Provence RAilway Company is run by CFTA which is the transport division of the company VIvend. CFTA is running 10 other companies dealing with transportation of passengers and goods, and the running of tourist trains. CFTA has been running the Chemins de Fer de Provence since 1984.

CFP has 135 employees. In 1996 the railway had 300.000 passengers, the number of which increased to almost 400.000 in 1999, an increase of almost 33% over a 3 year period. From this can be seen that the railway is playing an important role in the regional planning and is a considerable partner in relation to the finansial and touristic development of the region.
